Thomas Adolph "Tommy" Bartley Jr. age 78 of Little South Rd., Gravel Switch, passed away at 12:55 pm Sunday, March 1, 2026 at his residence.
Born January 3, 1948 in Lebanon, he was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Adolph Bartley Sr. and Mary Isabelle Smith Bartley and two brothers, Gary and Jerry Bartley.
He was the Sheriff of Washington County for four terms for a total of 16 years having served as the longest elected sheriff in Washington County history, also serving as a deputy for 6 years. He was a farmer and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Fredericktown High School.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Osborn Bartley, seven sons, Tommy (Cindy) Bartley, Brian (Kimberly) Bartley, Kevin (Tammy) Bartley, Travis (Jewell) Bartley, Brandon (Alana) Bartley and Jordon Bartley of all of Springfield, Todd (Shawn) Bartley of Bardstown, two daughters, Crystal (John) McDonald of Fredericktown and Oliva Graas of Wilder, KY, two brothers, David (Laura) Bartley and Dale (Sherry) Bartley all of Springfield, three sisters, Brenda (Mike) Mackin of Springfield and Betty Boone and Linda Balchunas both of Louisville, 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral mass for Thomas Adolph "Tommy" Bartley Jr. will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, March 5, 2026 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Pier Giorgio Dengler, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in Elder Cemetery in Casey County.
Pallbearers will be John McDonald, Shawn, Dillan, Timothy, Taylor, Andrew, Hunter and Lane Bartley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hardin, Jackie Robinson, Melissa Knopp and his grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 4 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Wednesday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Thursday morning.
